There could be many causes for this issue, and you don't say what make your vehicle is, so I'll provide my experience with this problem.
I have a 1993 Ford F-150 pickup which developed the same problem. After all my hours of troubleshooting over several weeks it turned out to be that the main headlight switch had become defective.
I replaced the headlight switch which solved the problem, but it was expensive!!!!!
I, as I always do with any replaced part, dissembled the old switch to study it and determine the cause for failure.
What I found [my analysis and opinion] was that Ford had saved money by using a switch in which the Copper [or Brass] contacts were made of material that was too thin ["lightweight"] for the job it had to do. Thus the electrical load of the lights using the switch caused the inadequate contacts to heat up hot enough to cause [over time] a buildup of CORROSION which made the heating problem even worse, resulting in the contacts finally "cooking out" until they were ruined.
Before buying and going to the trouble to install an expensive switch, I suggest you have a qualified Professional Automotive Electrical Technician troubleshoot the headlight electrical circuit(s) to make sure an expensive, "good" part is not being replaced unnecessarily.
my front headlights dont come on all the just one if i slam the trunk will come on what do i do
You have a twilight sentinel. Deal with it or sell the car. Or if you dont want the lights too come on you could just pull the parking break up one click with the engine off and then start it. and if you want your lights on you can just take the parking break off
check the fudes check headlights for power then check light switch
have you replaced the dimmer switch? if not that may be the problem. I had the same problem in reverse( brights worked but headlights didn't) water damaged the dimmer switch on the steering column once I replaced it all was good.
mainly because you lights are still drawing current from the battery. try opening all the holes in the battery and emptying the liquard out on the floor be dont get it on you. hope i helped
Dont know, your not sexually attracted to him?
I am not an expert, but i had similar problem on wifes nova. it turned out to be the dimmer switch,I would check it to make sure you are getting power in and out of it(with a test light)a dimmer switch is not that exspensive. it should be located on the steering column if you dim your lights from the turn signal switch. Hope this will help you out.
you dont
my headlights work but my taillights and dash light dont work whats wrong
one of two things, BAD EARTH, or Relay switch.
