Heron, or sometimes called as Hero, invented the formula. The formula was used to find the area of a scalene triangle or an SSS triangle. The formula states for a triangle with sides a, b and c, the area can be calculated like this,

K=sqrt(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)), where K is the area and s is the semiperimeter of a triangle i.e. s=(a+b+c)/2.

Why is heron formula important?

Heron's Formula is used for finding the area of a triangle given the lengths of its sides. We do not need any angles at all! In geometry, Heron's formula states that the area of the triangle is square root of [s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)] where is the the semiperimter which is can be found by (a+b+2)/2

What is the purpose of heron's formula?

Heron's formula, is basically a way to find the are of any triangle, as long as it has the sides of a, b, and c. For example, if a scalene has sides of 12, 15, and 7, you can use heron's formula to find the area. The formula is the square root of s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c). S is basicall half of the perimiter, and a, b, and c are the lengths of the sides.
