this is my answer (and I'm probably wrong, so please correct me):

and here's how i came up with it
d=rt
d = 1125 (ft/s, @speed of sound) * (0.0166666666666667 (seconds in an hr) * 4 =
0.0666666666666667) = 75 ft * 3 = 225 yards
so i think it's 75 feet from mouth to wall and the same would apply from wall to ear so double the 75 and you get 150 ft.. or 4.5 football fields.. pretty sure that's wrong, so help me see why i made a mistake!
plus I'm assuming the guy is at the top of the Grand Canyon, because it doesn't say how far down he is... therefore my 75 ft estimation. :)
