In an interview with Eoin Colfer, he said that Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Complex is the second to last book in the series, and that Artemis Fowl book 8 will be coming out in a few years (but fingers crossed for sooner!)

The Atlantis Complex is about Artemis having a fairy mental disorder called the atlantis complex. This includes having obsessive behavior, paranoia, delusions, and in extreme cases (which he is) multiple personality disorder. His new personality is "nice" Artemis, who cannot make plans to save the world from, as said in Eoin's interview, robots coming to probe Atlantis. Also, his other new personality is an annoying romantic, where in the most embarassing situations, proclaims his love for a certain LEP officer, which makes Kelp a little pissed off since he is also a little flirty with Holly.
