South Korea has two holidays that might qualify. On March 1, South Koreans celebrate what they call "Independence Day" which commemorates the March 1st Movement in 1919. On March 1 of this year, 33 Korean nationalists and students declared their nation's independence in Seoul. It started a nation-wide civil protest and was a catalyst for the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea (April 13, 1919). On August 15, South Koreans celebrate what they call "Liberation Day" which commemorates the national liberation from Imperial Japan in 1945 as one of the terms of Japanese Surrender to the United States. On the same day in 1948, the government of the Republic of Korea was established.
India celebrates its independence day on 15 August. However, South Korea also celebrates Liberation Day on 15 August to commemorate the end of Japanese colonial rule.

Japan still do not officially admit as a nation because it regards South Korea as the legitimate representative of Korean Peninsula.
