Solomon Northup's death has never been noted. It is believed that he met his death while on one of his various speaking engagements after the publication of his book, "Twelve Years A Slave". But there are many speculations as well with nothing ever being confirmed.

Solomon Northup was a free black man living in Saratoga Springs, New York. In 1841 he was lured to Washington, D. C., and sold into slavery. After nearly twelve years as a slave in Louisiana, he was rescued. He returned to New York State, where he authored a book, Twelve Years A Slave. He lectured extensively throughout the Northeast, and was reported to be helpful to fugitive slaves--even working on the underground railroad for a time.
