In a huge variety of ways. But since you didn't mention what you are building, I can't tell specifically. Here's an example though: If you're building let's say a garage with a concrete foundation, you have to use reinforcement bars. Concrete is worthless without those. because if the ground sinks by just a few millimeters in one corner and you haven't casted reinforcement bars into the concrete construction, it will crack and ultimately fall into pieces.
