I just got my dogs shots updated the other day and the vet said that its not uncommon to not give dogs a rabies vaccine. The only reason this is allowed is if you ar living in a non rural area that hasn't had many reports or outbreaks of rabies. However, it is always best to check with your vet.

shots dont do any good it depends on what animal there bitten by some could be more infected than others and rabies and poisonus snakes and spiders is why i think dogs should be in the house most of the time

All dogs must have yearly booster jabs against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, leptosirosis, kennel cough and rabies (unless you live in a country that is unaffected by rabies, such as the UK).
Pretty much anything can get rabies, including dogs. If something has rabies and bites another thing, it can easily get rabies.
Rabies can infect any mammal. However, most mammals, and most bush dogs, do not have rabies.
Consult your vet. You could expose puppies to rabies when in womb and not fully developed and when breast feeding from mother. Less of a threat when dogs are bigger, tougher breeds.
