You catch rainbows with flies which imitate the same types of insects they are feeding on at any moment. However this varies widely by location and time and you may have to use trial and error to find the correct fly. In stocked ponds you can catch farm raised trout with a niblet of corn, but the wild ones are a bit more clever.
Well, i went fishing in a recently stocked lake and only used spinners. I caught an unbeleivable amount of trout. About ten of them where rainbow trout. They taste good. :) spinners are good yes but i dont like spinners that much because those trouble hooks tear that fishes face up i would use crappie jigs and powerworms it does take some time but i can catch 5 that are at least 5lbs

In warm summer months the best time is just before and after sunset. Early morning would be second best. In cold months, wait until things are relatively warm in late morning through mid afternoon.
