The best time to visit Mauritius in order to enjoy the hot weather is from the end of November through to early March. However, these months (except November) coincide with the wet season in Mauritius. So the weather in Mauritius, particularly from December to February is very humid as well. The best location to stay at on Mauritius during these months is on the western and north western side since these regions record far less rain than the southern, eastern and inland areas. The reason for this is that the mountains over the centre part of the island block the progression of north westward moving rain bearing clouds during the summer months. The clouds move in this direction since the trade winds blow in from the south east. Furthermore, the highest daytime temperatures also occur in the same location as lowest rainfall (i.e. the western and north western side) since the mountains shelter these areas from the cooler trade winds. The western and north western side of Mauritius typically record maximum temperatures between 30-32°C. There might be at least 2-3 days when when the temperature rises to 34°C but this is uncommon since there's no place on Mauritius that's more than 35 kilometres from the ocean. The ocean air modifies helps to prevent the daytime maximum temperatures from rising too high.
