Agriculturally much of Japan is dual cropped. In summer (June-Oct) rice is grown, barley or another cereal is grown between October and late May. Japanese cereal varieties tend to be very early due to this short growing season. Monsoons occur in June and July so extension of cereal growing periods is not possible.
