Japan's rainy season usually begins at the start of June and lasts until mid July for most of Japan. The rainy season is called Tsuyu which means "plum rains" due to being the season that plums ripen. Different areas of Japan experience different levels of rain and each season will be different depending on weather pattens in the region.

The rainy season in Okinawa usually will start a month earlier than the mainland.
