Cat CollarsStart young because cats find collars adversive so they need to become accustomed to it. Be sure that the collar is not too tight and even not too loose as a cat may get hung up in a tree. A break-away collar is great so if your cat gets snagged on a branch or something it will not strangle them and they can break free. When putting the collar on, be sure to place two fingers within the collar when fastening. Additional responses to this question appreciated!

also, it is not suitble for a cat that you either just got born or you bought at a very young age. around 1 month- 5 months is perfect timing.

Well around 3 weeks of age, you can put a plastic like tag around its neck, and then at the age of 7 or 8 weeks you can put a lightweight collar on that's thin and won't rub against the Yorkies skin.

it depends on what you want to use your collar for? just for looks? just make sure the doggy can handle the weight. It is best to train your dog early so they know what the collar is all about. but if you are using a shock collar or anything that is intended to "focus the dogs attention elsewhere" then you should wait until dog is about a year old just for safety concerns.
