Yes, the type of router you use for running Xbox Live does matter. If your router is incompatible it can stop you from playing Live altogether, or, if it does let you play, you can have a Closed or Moderate NAT instead of an Open NAT, which is ideal. Having a Closed or Moderate NAT can stop you from joining certain parties and playing with certain people online. I have attached a link to a list of Approved Routers for Xbox Live. Hope this helped.

They are for xbox live subscriptions for xbox live. If you have one go on your xbox and Settings, Xbox Live, Redeem Code and type the following digits on the card.
when you get a wireless modem, and you want to play your 360 on it do a few things. first check and see if your connection is open or closed. if it is open, then don't worry. but if it is closed your going to have to call your Internet provider and get the password for the modem. then you need to. buy a Xbox 360 wireless router. it costs around $100. then just unplug your Ethernet cable, and ug in the wireless adapter to the USB port in the back of the xbox. then go to the xbox settings for xbox live and there you go.
