Well Yes and No. i have horses that are calm and still when i mount on to them. So no i just mount where ever i want and then ride into the arena. But if you have a very jummpy, and spook eaisaly horse, then yes i would give it plenty of room in case it tried to run off or buck, and because its inside an arena, it cant keep running as far as it wants.
