it is called transportation and this is part of the definition for "osmosis" - the tendency of a fluid, usually water, to pass through a semipermeable membrane into a solution where the solvent concentration is higher, thus equalizing the concentrations of materials on either side of the membrane.

orrr basically it just means that there is more of that particle in the area of greater concentration than that of the lesser concentration. For example you might put 1cm cubed of black currant squash into one cup of water and this would be a weak or lesser concentration. However if you put 40cm cubed of black currant squash into a cup of water it is a higher concentration and therefore there are more of that particle in that solution.

if you get what i mean :) happy to help if i did xxx

What movement of gas molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration?

osmosis is the passive movement of a substance from a place where its concentration is higher, to another where its concentration is lower. This applies to gases, I guess

What happenns during diffusion?

The molecules of a gas move due to their own kinetic energy from a place of their higher concentration towards lower concentration.

Moving particles from a place of lower to higher concentration using energy is what process?

The answer is active transports because it goes from high to low concentration h ope this helps.

What determines the direction in a substance diffuses across a membrane?

The concentration gradient determines the direction in which a substance diffuses across a membrane. The concentration gradient is a measure of how the concentration of a substance changes from one place to another.

What if a cell has a lower concentration outside the cell?

There are two basic ways that individual molecules can enter (or leave) a cell.1. Diffusion. This is the movement of particles from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration. So if the concentration of the molecule is higher outside the cell it can enter by diffusion. However diffusion can only take place down a concentration gradient ie from a high to a low concentration.2. Active transport. This is the movement of particles against their concentration gradient (ie from a low to a high concentration), using energy provided by the cell (ie ATP produced by respiration). So if a molecule is at a higher concentration inside the cell it can only be absorbed by active transport.

Energy is used to move particles from a place of lower to higher concentration?

What property causes particles to move from a place of higher concentration to a place of lower?

Technically the particles are moving randomly in all directions, its just that after some time this random movement causes them to spread out, giving the appearance that they are moving directly to the place of lower concentration. Do you need more detail? Hope this helps!

Is diffusion a active transport?

No.diffusion and active transports are two different biological processes.diffusion us the movement of particles from one place of high concentration to a place of lower concentration while active transport is the movement of particles acrooss cell membranes against a concentration gradient and this normally requires the expenditure of energy.

What does the facilitated difussion depend on?

facilitated diffusion occurs from an area of lower concentration to an area of higher concentration and requires a carrier protein to take place

Which terms refers to the movement of molecules from an area of higher concentration an area of lower concentration?

Diffusion, a form of passive transport, is the movement of molecules from an area of greater concentration to an area of lower concentration. Osmosis is a special case involvement the movement of water from an area of higher concentration of water molecules to an area of lower concentration of water molecules. It takes place in all three states of matter-Solids, liquids and gases.

What happens in gaseous exchange?

The diffusion of gases takes place from their higher concentration to lower concentration. Exchange of oxygen by carbondioxide is the usual feature of breathing by lungs.

Describe the difference between diffusion and osmosis?

although both are the movement of particles from an area of high concentration to low, diffusion is the movement of many kinds of substances however osmosis refers to the diffusion of water particles only from an area of high water concentration to an area of low water concentration.
