not for changing the belt. however you will need it for the ignition timing once you have replaced the timing belt
None. Engine timing is set by the PCM, you can not change it with a timing light.
Brake light switch needs adjusting or replacing. It is too sensitive.
To set the timing on a 1996 Mercury Villager, first ensure the engine is at operating temperature and then turn off the engine. Locate the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover. Use a timing light connected to the number one cylinder's spark plug wire to check the timing. Adjust the timing by loosening the distributor hold-down bolt and rotating the distributor until the timing mark aligns with the specified degree on the timing scale, then retighten the hold-down bolt.
