In answer to your question when restoring leadlight windows is there a way to solder zinc to new lead? This seems to be a double edged question, I'll answer the last part first.
Of course you can solder zinc to new lead. Firstly you need to polish the surface of the zinc thoroughly with emery cloth, which scours the surface so it will accept flux so that the join can be effected. I find it best to do this before putting it in the leadlight. Thoroughly wire brush the leads either side of the zinc for a shiny clean surface as well and preferably use stearine flux on the leads but use a liquid flux on the zinc.
To answer the first part, which seems a little hazy, I would need more information to answer this part of the question as there could be so many scenarios involving the question as a whole.
Can I suggest you have a look at my instructional blog on Leadlighting Tutorials and lesson 4 (soldering) lesson 7 (repairs and restorations) and lesson8 (reinforcing) which deals with zinc.
Hope this will help you.
I remain yours faithfully,
John Jackson.
Windows equal sources of light.
Windows have two purposes: for the admission of natural light, and when openable, to allow natural ventilation.
insulation value is much greater in double glazed windows. Double glazed windows filters the light and gives a cooler atmosphere.
During daylight, circular windows (Wheel, Rose or Catherine windows) and other sculptured windows allowed a decent amount of light into the main portion of the buildings. Candlelight was used to supplement this, and was used at night.
They are attracted to light. So are termites when they swarm. Indoors, they will invariably go for the windows during the day.

To block out light. During the WW2 they were used in the windows so that the Germans could not see the light coming from the windows and therefore not know where a city was

Well, since the sunlight or any light gets on tinted windows, the less tinted(or darkness will show.) So, that will conclude that it NOT bend light or (refract.) And it will NOT transmit. It will also NOT be reflected. It will be absorbed. Tinted windows absorb light. :D
The light indicates that Overdrive is off. The overdrive solenoid on the transmission has to be energised to allow the transmission to shift into 4th gear There are 4 common failures. Most likely first; * Bad Relay - The solder on the circuit board cracks. - open it and re-solder * Bad wiring * ** - Broken at the switch lights the light ** - Broken at the solenoid does not light the light * Bad switch on the shift lever * Bad solenoid Good Luck
I had this problem and it was broken solder on the timing circuit board for the glow plugs
Toyota and Subaru clocks have a manufacturing defect causing them to not light up.Simply remove and open the clock. Re-solder the surface mount resistors (black chips with 3 digit numbers and Rxx printed on the circuit board). Especially re-solder R510.Even if the solder looks ok, the solder used will fail to make a proper electrical connection.
