when the tread is worn down to 1/16 inch
What would cause a grinding noise after a tire is replaced and the brakes are not worn?
In most states if the tire is worn to 2/32 it is consider an unsafe tire and should be replaced. Some states it is 3/32.
if it is worn down the middle it means the tire has to much air in it. if the two sides of the tire worn there is to little air. if it is worn at one side of the tire the tracking is out
Worn tires are worn down to 1.6 mm of their remaining tread depth. They could have bulges, bubbles, slits or holes. For safety reasons they should be changed.
The pintle should be replaced if it shows any sign of damage or is worn down. Usually the manufacturers will have a worn down to point. My suggestion is once it gets to the point of an inspection and wear is present replace it. If it is a solid steel ring, it can be welded to be repaired. If it is a forged or cast ring it is scrap and has to be replaced.
Winter tires should be changed out when the tread has been worn down to around 1.5mm to 1.6mm in thickness, after they have been worn down more they are considered worn out. To measure the tread of ones tires one should use a tire gauge which can be bought at websites such as amazon.
The tire has almost no traction and can blow out at any time. It will also hydroplane in very little water. A tire should be replaced when there is 2/32 tread left. A bald tire is an accident waiting to happen.
The age of the tire or if it has damage is more an indication of a tire that may be susceptible to a blowout than the tread left on the tire. Of course a tire worn beyond it's life should be replaced. If you can put a penny in the tread grove with Lincoln's head down and can see the top of his head, the tires are worn out and should be replaced. Not necessarily because if may blow out, but because it can no longer provide good corning traction or stopping ability. A worn tire is also very prone to hydroplaning due to the lack of good tread to channel the water away. If your tire is over 6 years old, by all means replace them no matter the mileage, unless you only do city driving. Also if you park your car outside and not in a garage the tires will be effected by the sun's rays and the environment and will deteriorate sooner.
Depends on how much it was worn on the edges. If you are in doubt, put these on the back and get new ones for front. - After struts are replaced don't forget to have an alignment. Very important for your tire wear.
All tires have a wear indicator. Look on the tire for that indicator between the tread. Once the tire reaches that point they are worn out and need replacing. Another test is to insert a penny with Lincoln's head down. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head they are worn out.
this can be caused by a worn nozzle or worn electrodes or both. You should have both replaced
