LIVE food - their natural diet is amphibians such as frogs & toads. They are also known to take fish and earthworms - but taking dead food is extremely rare - as they prefer to actively hunt their food than have it offered by hand !
INCIDENTALLY - Whoever asked this question - if you are in the UK, and you took the Grass snake from the wild - you must return it to the wild - NOW !! ALL native UK reptiles are now protected species by law - and you can be fined, imprisoned or both for taking wild reptiles into captivity !

You should feed them on 'pinkies' - newborn baby mice. They are available from any reptile shop (or should be !) Feed one pinkie, once a week unless the snake is shedding - in which case feed a couple of days after it's shed. Don't forget to thaw the pinkie out before feeding !
