When should you propose to him?

I think deep down you really know if he is going to propose. There has to be some kind of signs, like have you been talking about living together? Making long term plans? People don't do that unless they are committed. Has he been asking you weird questions about things you like or dislike...or styles?

This is always hard to tell. Of course it all depends on the guy. If he isn't really into commitment it may be a while. If you care about him then just be patient and he will either do it sooner or later. Patients is key. However if something is different about him like he's taking you out to a really nice restaurant or a really romantic place then you can have a pretty good guess. Especially if it's for no reason. And of course if he's talking to your dad a lot.

Sometimes, there is no girlfriend and it is just two guys. You should wait to propose to your boyfriend after you have known him for a while. It's best to have met his family and at least some of his friends, neighbors and co-workers. He should do the same with you. A long courtship will give you insight into his character as you see how he reacts to situations that come up. You should not propose to someone just to keep them from drifting away. If you are not already close and know each other well, marriage will not give you an instant healthy relationship. Marriage can only bolster an already strong bond.
