Yes because if Global Warming is true (which is) then it means we must live sustainably or all our resources would be used up and humans will die. That is unless we don't go to Mars or another close planet.

And even if you don't believe in Global Warming, recycling will help the Earth in many more ways. Items such as plastic can not be broken down and can harm the earth, animals and release toxins when dumped into the the environment. Things like paper and cardboard are always in great demand, so when they are simply thrown away, more trees need to be destroyed to make more. This also harms the environment because we can't plant and grow trees at the rate they are cut down. It also takes less energy to make things out of recycled wastes and creates less air and water pollution.

Some would say "only when it is economically profitable" while others would argue that we have a moral responsibility not to waste and to increase the amount of reusable materials that end up in landfills even if it is not profitable.
