My 2005 Subaru Impreza has a timing belt. And it just cost me an engine. Make sure you replace it based on the owners manual. Should be about every 100k miles. Don't make the mistake I made and neglect this.
On a 2.5 liter engine it is located behind the timing belt cover. My advise, replace the timing belt when you replace the timing belt. It will have to come off anyway.
The Maintenance Schedule requires Inspection (and replacement if necessary) of the Camshaft Drive Belt (aka Timing Belt) at every 30,000 miles and Replacement at 105,000 miles.
Subaru Forester has a timing belt.
No you don't have to , but it is a smart thing to do. It takes quite a bit to get down that far and you might as well do it as you should have around 100K on the pump when you are replacing the timing belt.
