German Shepherds are incredibly smart dogs. On a scale of 1 to 5 ( 1 being the least smart and 5 being ther smartest) a German Shepherd is 5. I would recommend that you start training the dog at about 2 or 3 months. This way your dog can learn young and do more in its lifetime. You have to be stern but gentle because you do not want to upset the dog. You should have a good relationship with the dog too before you begin any harder trainings. Dogs are very smart, and they can tell when you are mad at them or happy or pround. In the facility where I work, the dogs must be 12 weeks or older. The dogs learn well when rewarded properly. I hope this can be helpful. You may also want to look for other Dog Training books to help guide you along the way. Some suggestions for German Shepherds are as follows: Dog Breed Handbooks German Shepherd by Bruce Fogle, DVM; Animal Planet German Shepherd Dogs by Susan M. Ewing;German Shepherd Dog by Susan Samms; The German Shepherd Dog by Diane Morgan.
you should start as soon as the puppy is weened from the mother the first an done of the most important thing you should start doing is socalizing.
A puppy should be weaned by eight weeks so they should be on a puppy mixer by 5-6 weeks.

you can start working a German when he is about 10 months old but to make sure his bones are fully developed check with his vet.
This depends on the individual dog. Barking can start as young as 5 weeks, but some Shepherds are simply not vocal. Not barking is not a bad sign.
Yes, it is always good to start early because as it grows older you will need it to know the rules that the dog needs to go by. My German Shepard is 11 weeks old and we started training it at 9 1/2 months. I hope this answered your question!
This is possible. But mainly not till 6 to 12 months of age will you have to start to worry much
This breed is for the experienced dog owner who understands flock guardian temperament. They should not be in the hands of first time owners who do not have the necessary experience. It is best to start with a breed such as the German Shepherd before considering a large, guarding breed like the Central Asian Shepherd Dog.
it is okay to keep a labrador and German shepherd together as long as they both get along and if they don't when they start to growl at each other separate them aventully they will get used to each others company! don't worry dogs can sence your worry!
In the early 1900's people were starting to realize how useful a Shepherd could be in the police force.
