First check for vacuum leaks in the hoses, especially the hose going to the vacuum modulator on the distributor. Then check for a bad vacuum modulator. Other problems may be worn or bad valves, piston rings, or timing chain or timing gear wear.
Some signs are: cranking the engine over a few times before it starts stepping on the accelerator and having hesitation a stumble by the engine when you need power do you have a check engine light yet? When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? It may be clogged blocking fuel.
Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel or a filter is clogged. Try having your fuel ejection flushed and fuel filter changed!
Start by having the fuel filter changed.
When they changed your oil, they might not have put enough oil back in. They also might have forgotten to put your air filter back in. Check both of these things immediately. It could also be you have a dirty air filter.
1) Check for ignition problem. If you have a distributor, pay special attention to distibutar pickup and also ignition wires. 2) Check the TPS. Voltage should change smoothly as you move the throttle.
Try having the fluid and filter changed. If the problem persists seek help from a professional. You are driving an 11-year-old car and if you have not had the fluid changed at regular intervals this might be the problem.
Were you having problems before you changed the filter? If yes you probably have a bad fuel pump; if no there is likely some kind of fuel blockage in the supply lines or filter. Again, it still could be the fuel pump.
You need to change your fuel filter before anything. These cars have problems with their fuel line/pump. My fuel filter cost 15 bucks for a 1993 Del Sol but the bad starts have stayed away. I would even recommend cleaning your fuel tank and then changing the fuel filter again. It's better than changing everything else and still having a problem. Start with the basics.Amy
I have the same exact car, with the same problem. Thinking it's the Fuel Filter and will be changing it ,or having it changed, soon.
Transmission slipping? Try having fluid and filter changed If that doesn't help may require a rebuild
I had a 1994 mercury villager I was having the same problem it shutting down when the engine got warm. The distributor was the problem . After I changed it I never had another problem with it shutting down anymore. Good luck
The crank sensor is not in the distributor, it is in the top of the bell housing. The cam position sensor is in the distributor and is not available separately
