When the apostlic age ended there were several things that came to an end. I believe that these are a few of them.
I believe the gift of speaking in tongues ended, healing ended (not healing through prayer, but healing by laying hands on someone), working of miracles ended. These gifts were what are called "sign gifts". The apostles were enabled by God to perform certain works which signified their authority. These gifts were used to confirm that they were His servants and that they were giving people His word.
At the end of the gospel of Mark The Bible says in Mark 16:20 "And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen."
So when the Lord finally wrapped up His Word (the writing of the scriptures) there was no longer a need for these signs and the apostles because He had given man His divine and perfect word.
Answer:
In my humble opinion it did not end, since the Bible plainly says these gifts are for "All" that believe. They are all distributed differently but since I believe the age cannot have ended. (in other words we need just on believer and the age still did not end)
