When the battery was replaced in 1997 dodge ram it wont start was told that you had to reset anti theft in order for it to start is that true?

That is true on one of my 97 Chevy cavalier z24,but not with the other 2. (97 & 99) On mine, I just leave the key on for 15-20 mins. turn off key, then restart.
