No, Lewis and Clark did not seek revenge on the Mandans or other tribes. Their primary goals were to explore and map the western territories of the United States, establish relationships with Native American tribes, and gather information on the land, resources, and people they encountered. Revenge was not part of their mission.
They were rebuffed by the Mandans so they didn't attack.
Loser to Lewis
what Lewis and clark wanted to accomplish was to map the entire Louisiana purchase
Lewis and Clark spent their first winter of the expedition at Fort Mandan, which they built. It was named for the local tribe, the Mandans. That is also where they met Charboneau and Sacagawea, who became the expedition's translators.
He let sacagawea help Lewis and Clark on there expedition.
In some ways the Mandans at the mouth of the Knife River were easier for the expedition to befriend than many other native groups, since the tribe had already met white explorers - the French Sieur de la Verendrye in 1738 and the Welshman John Evans in 1796. Trading arrangements had also been established between the Mandans and Spanish and French traders. Lewis and Clark were seen as another opportunity for the tribe to benefit from superior technology. By 1804 the Mandans were already much reduced by disease and inter-tribal war, so they had every reason to look upon the Corps of Discovery as potential friends and allies against their traditional enemies. Lewis and Clark always conducted themselves in a courteous and kindly way and were eager to establish good relationships with all the native groups they met; the Mandans were equally friendly.
The Mandan tribe was agreeable to the goals of Lewis and Clark, and their Corps of Discovery project. However, in spite of peace talks with a neighboring tribe, the Arikaras, fighting broke out. Fortunately, the Mandans kept their relationship with the explorers positive and provided them with food in trade for other goods.
Which Indian tribe their were several. The shoshone were nice because their current chief was Sacagawea's Brother.
They explored and mapped the western territory the United States just purchased.
Its hard to tell there was no written document, sorry
