It isn't so much that the Earth will be "sucked in", but the Sun will expand to consume the inner planets. Mercury and Venus for certain, and possibly Earth as well.
However, this probably won't happen for upwards of four BILLION years, so it's not something that you need to worry about before summer break.
A red giant is when a star becomes very large. A super red giant is when a star becomes very extremely large. People think that in a few billion years, our sun will become a red giant and swallow up earth.
I am pretty sure it becomes a giant if I'm not mistaken.
The mass of the star.
When the sun becomes a red giant, it will expand to about 100 times its current size.
yes, it will destroy earth. But the good news in couple of billion years we will be in a other planet.
After a star burns up all it's hydrogen, it becomes a red giant.
first its called the main sequence star like the sun then it becomes a red giant then it becomes a red super giant and if it is huge a hyper-giant like VY Canis Majoris (largest star known) then it explodes and it becomes a planetary nebula then it becomes a white dwarf
There wouldn't be any. By the time the sun grows into a red giant, it will have enveloped the earth
yes before it dies it becomes a red giant
Some will last around 4.5 billion years - until the sun becomes a red giant and effectively swallows the Earth.
when sun turnes red giant
It will be big enough to kill us.
