You use energy when walking on a carpet. You may pick up a static charge depending on the material of the carpet

Carpet absorbs energy from a ball because the carpet absorbs more kinetic energy. The energy that is absorbed doesn't allow the ball to bounce.

Walking produces motion, not electromagnetic energy.
Wipe up as much as you can with paper towels. Spot clean the carpet with carpet cleaner (grocery store has it). Do it as soon as you can. Let the carpet dry well before walking on it.
Whether your feet are clean are not, walking barefoot on carpet causes oil absorption. The oils attract dirt and dust, so the carpet does become dirty faster than if you wore slippers. Remove your shoes at the door and always wear clean slippers when walking on your carpet. This will prolong the period of time between regular carpet shampooing.
