Camp Wally was turned over to the ROK Army in April 1971 when the 2nd Division moved off the DMZ (except for Panmunjom) to Camp Casey as the 7th Division moved back to the U.S. and was deactiviated. Interestingly, the official time of the exchange of responsibility for the 2nd's sector of the DMZ was at 12 noon. At 4:00 p.m. North & South Korea exchanged howitzer fire. The DMZ was still rather tense, and there was no love or quarter taken by either North or South Korea regarding the other. p.s. I wonder if the plaque on the concrete pedestal on the west side of the company HQs building commemorating Pvt(?) Wally is still there. p.s. 2 General Hal Moore of We were Soldiers Once and Young was a year before 7th Div CG. Mark Nesbitt
