Childe Roland to the Dark Tower came is a poem by Robert Browning.
The meaning should be "again" - 'gin being a short form thereof
The ideas came from the mind of Gustave Eiffel. The guy who created the Eiffel Tower. Gustave must've had a mustache or something.
This is a poem about a knight errant who travels across a dark and twisted wasteland to find the Dark Tower, a place he has searched for for some time. He feels great despair at the horrors he sees along his path and begins to doubt himself. He trs to recall his friends and happier times, but pleasant memories only invoke sad ones. He finally reaches the Dark tower and almost does no recognize it. Blowing his horn at the tower is an ac of defiance - a way to honor all those who have been destoyed in this quest.
Burton Hatlen, professor at the University of Maine, where King attended college. King quotes that Hatlen was the greatest english teacher he ever had. Hatlen also mentored Stephen's wife Tabitha. Richard Matheson and John D. MacDonald are also supposed mentors, though they are referred to as major influences of his work.
