The People's Church was founded as First Baptist Church of Franklin, Tennessee. A Southern Baptist Church by affiliation, it is not the church your grandmother would have attended in her day. Ironically, the church's current name was due to a marketing campaign a number of years ago. In an attempt to promote the church, a campaign was launched to promote the church with a tag line: First Baptist Church of Franklin -- the people's church!" The intent was to communicate its emphasis upon people. But shortly after launching the campaign, people who were not actual members began calling the church, The People's Church. The name grew in such popularity that the church leaders decided to adopt the name themselves, hence -- The People's Church of Frankin. Highly contemporary worship, the church uses what some call the attractional model of church ministry, hoping it's uniqueness of style and emphasis on young people will attract people into its ministries. Though Southern Baptist, the church is involved internationally with multiple missions organizations and is supportive of church members who participate with such groups. Rick White, the Senior Pastor, has been on staff in his role over 20 years, having grown the church from it's original location in downtown Franklin to its present location approximately 2 miles from it's original home. An ever-evolving church, there are multiple opportunities for children and adults alike to get involved.
