It's not based on any book, I don't think; there's not one called "Curse of Blackmoor Manor."

In "Nancy Drew: The Curse of Blackmoor Manor," the 13 ghosts are located throughout Blackmoor Manor itself, which is situated in England. Each ghost corresponds to a unique backstory related to the manor's history, and players must uncover clues and solve puzzles to interact with them. The ghosts are integral to unraveling the mystery of the manor and its past.
Personally, I think Message in a Haunted Mansion [MHM] is easier than The Curse of Blackmoor Manor [CUR] because it was made before it, so their are less puzzles to deal with, and it goes along much more quickly.
ND Curse of Blackmoor Manor, and other games, can be downloaded directly from the Her Interactive website, by paying money. There's no legal way I know of to download it free, however.
A free game is a stolen game. Not good.
Read the book on monsters/lycanthropy in Jane's room
