Drum Corps don't traditionally march Trombones. At least not anymore. Trombone players are taught to play Baritones a lot of the time now because they're just easier to march with. It's like french horn players have to play a Mellophone since they can't march regular french horns. So, no, you won't see any major Drum Corps marching Trombones.
The drum major originates from the Drum Corps of 1650 in the British Army. The drum major's job was to defend the drummers and bugle players because the drums and bugles were communication devices back then. The Drum Corps were not like a usual military band because they were in the infantry battalion.
Most drum corps earn money from sponsors that are usually music related. In addition to that they also receive private donations from many people. To also keep costs low for the unit itself it requires a great deal of money from current members with the usual cost being over $1,000.
A quint drum configuration consists of five different drums: four main toms, and a fifth drum in the middle. It is played like quads in a high school or Corps configuration. A tenor drum makes up each of the quints, but can also be played seperately in a concert or set setting (rack tom/floor tom).

What is a Drum Corps? A drum and bugle corps or drum corps is a musical marching unit (similar to a marching band) consisting of brass instruments, percussion instruments, and color guard. The activity originated in the United States and Canada, but has spread to parts of Europe and Asia. Typically operating as independent non-profit organizations, drum corps perform on-field competitions, parades, festivals and other civic functions. * http://www.bandarrangers.com/screammachine/default.asp
