During the 96 years the Southern Railway operated, the company acquired 13 roads/routes. Of these there were four that were most significant to the operation of the railway. They were the Cincinnati, New Orleans and Texas Pacific Railway, the Georgia Southern and Florida Railway, the New Orleans and North Eastern Railway, and the Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia Railway.
The Ashes are played "at least once every four years" but recent contests have been either yearly or every other year, with matches alternating between England and Australia. There were matches in 2013 (England), 2013-2014 (Australia), and 2015 (England), to be followed by 2017-2018 (Australia).
Jason Gillespie, the former Australian cricketer, played in the Ashes series from 1996 to 2005 and was part of the Australian team that won the Ashes in 1997, 1999, 2001, and 2003. Overall, he participated in four successful Ashes campaigns during his career. His contributions as a fast bowler were significant in securing these victories for Australia.
