Are there any splinter groups in scientology?
Yes. The "Church of Scientology" is the main scientology practicing organisation, and by far the largest and most powerful. It has a complex organisational structure, and is the organisation originally led by L Ron Hubbard, the creator of scientology. The splinter groups are known collectively as "the Free Zone". They are generally disaffected scientologists, often unhappy with the actions of the organisation - CoS - in particular with the costs of scientology training. Both the Freezone and CoS accuse each other of "squirrelling" the scientology equivalent of heresey - which means simply changing the doctrine dictated by Hubbard.
