The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "FLDS") began with a group of people who left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1890's, when the church outlawed the practice of polygamy. The Fundamentalist Church is estimated to have a few thousand members that live mostly in closed societies in Utah, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, and British Columbia.
