The Goldfish Pond on Lafayette Park in Lynn is clearly shown on the 1872 Atlas of Lynn. http://www.salemdeeds.com/atlases_pages.asp?ImageName=plate_0004.jpg&atlastype=Atlases&atlastown=LYNN&atlas=LYNN+1872&atlas_desc=LYNN+1872&pageprefix= You can also see it on the 1829 map of Lynn, very faintly near Chestnut St. and Fayette St. It is labeled as a Pond but I can not make out its name. It seems to be Fayette Pond after the name of the Street. http://www.salemdeeds.com/atlases_pages.asp?ImageName=LYNN.jpg&atlastype=Atlases&atlastown=ESSEX+COUNTY&atlas=ESSEX+COUNTY+1830&atlas_desc=ESSEX+COUNTY+1830&pageprefix= On page 111 of The History of Lynn by Alonzo Lewis, published 1865, a small pond is mentioned as being on Fayette St. in 1629. Near Edmund Ingalls house. In fact I think the name of Goldfish Pond in the 1829 map is Fayette Pond. But this is short for Lafayette and was probably so named after the Revolution. Therefore I think this is a natural small pond that was shaped into its current shape. http://books.Google.com/books?id=RQx39omkfOYC&pg=RA1-PA593&dq=History+of+Essex+County&source=gbs_selected_pages&cad=0_1#PRA1-PA111,M1
