HushPuppies was created in 2002.
Hushpuppies inherently include cornmeal. Making them without cornmeal is like making cornbread without cornmeal. It's a different dish without it. You can make fritters without cornmeal and they are similar to hushpuppies or you can use a mix for hushpuppies but it will contain cornmeal.
Hushpuppies got their name from the practice of using fried dough to quiet barking dogs during fish fries or cookouts in the American South. People would throw the fried dough to the dogs to keep them quiet, saying "hush, puppies." Over time, this snack became known as hushpuppies.

Excellent. Their ribs are delicious, and their sweet sauce is very good. Their baked goods in particular are exceedingly well done. Their popovers are to die for, and their hushpuppies are really good. Their beans are cooked just right, not mushy.

Quote: "I Think it maybe 'the kinks' I'm not like anybody else..." Actually it's the right song, but wrong band. It's a tough call to distinguish between the two covers which sound very similar, but it's either Hushpuppies' version or possibly Camper Van Beethoven - not the Kinks - and you can hear both on Spotify.
You can find them online stores at; hushpuppies, amazon, ebay, shoebuy, zappos.
A hushpuppy is a deep-fried cornmeal batter ball or fritter, typically seasoned with ingredients like onion, garlic, or spices. Originating from Southern U.S. cuisine, they are often served as a side dish alongside fried fish or other seafood. Their crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior make them a popular comfort food. Hushpuppies are enjoyed for their savory flavor and are commonly found in Southern-style restaurants and seafood shacks.
