it was made by ITHACA (not colt) in 1943.................If your slide reads Colt, then sometime down the road a colt slide was put on your Ithaca receiver...............that is not unusual to have happen.................

serial number found on right side of the frame, above and to the left of the trigger guard... during field cleaning 45 pistols were disassembled and when put back together parts were often mixed (on military guns) if you see Colt or Ithaca on the slide it does not necessarily mean the pistol is a Colt or Ithaca. It could be a Remington or US&S made pistol..........................again, based on serial number
