Design Research Unit (DRU) was founded in London, England in 1942 during World War II. The company was established as a multidisciplinary design consultancy firm with a focus on industrial and graphic design, architecture, and town planning. DRU played an essential role in the post-war reconstruction of Britain, and many of its designers were involved in the Festival of Britain in 1951, which showcased modern design and technology to the public. DRU was one of the pioneering design firms of the modern era and had a significant influence on the development of design thinking and practice in the post-war period.
