Liriope muscari, also known as lilyturf, spreads moderately quickly in a garden. It can gradually fill in an area over a few years, but it is not overly aggressive or invasive.
It kills bacteria.
To plant muscari effectively in your garden, choose a sunny location with well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the bulb and place the bulb with the pointed end facing up. Cover with soil and water thoroughly. Plant bulbs in groups for a more impactful display. Water regularly and fertilize in the spring for best results.
Like most of the bulb flowers, muscari have very water retentive stems that make them east to bend and smash. You can either wire the stem, or use a small, round piece of wood or plastic to make a starting hole. Make sure that when you insert the stem into the oasis, you go all the way to the end of your starter hole.
Border grass has purple berries. Another name for it is Liriope muscari. Keep the berries away from children and pets.
