Pink Floyd recorded and released their first material through a contract with EMI (a division of Capitol Records) that was negotiated by their manager, Bryan Morrison.

Their first single, "Arnold Layne" was released March 11, 1967, and was initially banned by radio stations due to cross-dressing references in the song. The last recording for EMI was "Dark Side of the Moon", which of course was a phenomenal commercial success. The first album for their new label, Columbia Records, was the 1975 release "Wish You Were Here".
