'Darren Rufner Page' , a Fort Worth born & bred musician, played bass guitar with the 'Robert Ealey Blues Band' in Fort Worth Texas from 1995 until 2001. During his membership with the band, the Robert Ealey Blues Band was voted the 'Best In Texas' in Texas Monthly Magazine, September 1997 issue. Darren Rufner Page is a guitarist that played bass because Robert Ealey & Tone Sommer asked him to join the band. Page actually got Tone Sommer started on guitar back in 1973, when they were both in their teens. Page & Sommer began their musical careers together in earnest beginning in 1977 as professional rockers along with drummer Greg Griffin ( son of famed novelist/author John Howard Griffin ' Black Like Me ' of Ft Worth. Page & Sommer were born on the same day, September 16th, exactly one year apart, and grew up on the same street, attended the same schools and shared one goal from the age of ten years old: To play in a band. Robert Ealey welcomed the tightness, closeness and friendship it gave the bands look, feel & sound. Roberts favorite saying about this trio " Ya dont get this every day." He was right. Ealey, Sommer & Page rocked the blues world from the get go using several different drummers over the years. Bass players are hard to find. When Robert asked Page to play bass for his band, Page replied " I'll do it, but not as a blues bassist. I play rock guitar, so I'll play rock bass, take it or leave it." Robert took it and for five years straight, the Robert Ealey Blues Band was voted the best blues band in N. Texas and Texas for that matter. Page brought the 'business' side of the mix into the 'Music business', and it paid off big time. Helen Ealey, Roberts wife, said it was what Robert needed. A structured business plan was sorely needed and Darren Page brought one with him, along with a stage presence that also sold well. Page is the cousin of Ft Worth musician David 'Ruf' Rufner, a superb keyboardist and long time rocker in the Fort.
