Scammonden Bridge was created in 1970.
Officially named "Scammonden Water" the reservoir was a joint venture between the Ministry of Transport and Huddersfield Corporation Waterworks. The reservoir itself serves drinking water to towns of West Yorkshire while its dam wall carries the M62 through the Deanhead Cutting.
