The Bauer Cooperage was founded in San Francisco, CA in 1904-1905 (by my great grandfather) Simon Bauer. It was officially "S. Bauer Cooperage and Company." After Simon Bauer passed away (abt 1938?) the cooperage was run by Simon's second eldest son, Alex Bauer. His eldest son, Samuel Bauer, (my grandfather) also worked at the cooperage into the 1950s. Samuel Bauer opened a second cooperage in Alemeda, CA. Over the years, the Bauer Cooperage had many fires and had to be rebuilt several times. It existed until the early1950s.
