Tacca chantrieri, also known as the bat flower, is mainly grown for its unique and ornamental appearance. It is often cultivated as a houseplant or in tropical gardens for its dark purple to black flowers that resemble a bat in flight. Additionally, some cultures believe that the plant brings good luck and prosperity.
A bat flower is any of a group of tropical plants in the genus Tacca which are grown for their distinctive flowers.
As a larvae, the moth is very specific about what it eats. In general, this includes ankaranensis, palmata, occidentalis, and oppositifolia species of plants. As an adult, it feeds on nectar from a variety of plants. The moth is only seen in Madagascar.
