Underwood
The Underwood 1 typewriter, introduced in 1895, is considered the first modern typewriter due to its innovative design features, like the familiar QWERTY layout, shift key mechanism, and automatic ribbon reverse. Underwood made cameras as far back as l887 in the Daguerrotype/Wet Plate era. They were also responsible for the outsized(As big as a Volkswagen) Mamoth Camera of l898 made for the Alton Railroad for publicity shots. Mammoth was a registered trade mark of Underwood for their 20X24 Plate size , elephantine indeed. This is the same as the Typewriter company, who made a darn good product, I had three of them commencing in l967 (Underwood-Olivetti).
