To the best of my knowledge, the Winchester company never made a production pistol. The New Haven Arms Company which was formed to continue production of the Volcanic pistol, designed by Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson, produced by Volcanic Repeating Arms Company was eventually bought out by Oliver Winchester and that company became Winchester Repeating Arms. Winchester went on to produce rifles and shotguns, but no pistols. About 700 of the small frame, .31 caliber Volcanic pistols were produced. If you have one of those, have it professionally appraised. In addition, there are numerous books on Winchester history that will discuss this pistol.

The first well-known, practical repeating rifle was introduced by Colt Firearms in 1855. It was essentially a Colt percussion revolver with a longer barrel and rifle stock. Although a repeater, each chamber of the cylinder had to be charged and primed separately, as in all percussion revolvers. Extra pre-loaded cylinders were carried in lieu of magazines or loose ammunition. The first practical magazine-fed repeating rifle was produced by the Volcanic Arms Company, formed in 1855 by Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson. Volcanic made a tube-fed, lever-action repeater that fired ammunition with the powder charge and primer in the base of the bullet itself. This type of ammunition was obviously limited by the volume of powder, but it was the first completely-enclosed, one piece ammo produced commercially. While the Volcanic Repeating Arms Company was short lived, its descendants, Smith & Wesson and Winchester Repeating Arms Company, became fairly well known.
In 1854 was the introduction of the Volcanic repeating handguns

The great-grandaddy of the Winchester lever action rifle was the Volcanic pistol, developed by Smith and Wesson. Oliver Winchester began buying stock in The Volcanic Repeating Arms Company in 1855. The company name became the New Haven Arms Company in 1857 after both Smith and Wesson dropped their share of the ownership. In 1860 production of the Henry Rifle began. This is usually considered the first Winchester. I don't know exactly when the company became Winchester Repeating Arms, but the first gun to actually carry the Winchester name was the Model 1866.
